Finance

The Council’s financial year runs from 1 April to 31 March.

The main source of income is the Precept (the money raised via the Council Tax). For the 21/22 financial year, the Precept was set at £22,996. The budget is available in the finance section of the website.

The budget for the following financial year has to be agreed before consideration of the Precept, and this all has to be done at the January meeting so that it can be submitted to CDC ready for April.

Our Year End formal document – the AGAR (the Annual Governance and Accountability Return) – has to be agreed by Council and submitted to the External Auditors before 30 June every year. We also have to have an Internal Audit, agree a formal Risk Assessment and abide by the Financial Regulations.
